Managing Challenging Behaviors: Caregivers track

Understanding the basis of challenging behaviors in people with HD is the key to learning to manage them. This workshop will describe common behavior challenges, including apathy, irritability and unawareness, and will provide people with HD and caregivers with strategies that will help. We will review behavioral techniques, caregiver support and medication management.

Psychiatric Issues in HD: Early Stage HD track

This presentation will discuss psychiatric issues that may arise in the early stages of HD. These issues may result in loss of employment, difficulties in relationships and impact the overall quality of life for the person with HD and his or her family. In addition, this presentation will include tips for identifying common psychiatric issues early on and coping strategies for dealing with problem behaviors.
